Laurie Daugherty is Of Counsel to the firm. As a business generalist, her practice includes the following transactional areas:
- Corporation and LLC organization and general governance matters
- Tax-exempt corporations – structure, governance and compliance
- Contract drafting and review
- Commercial transactions
- Investor agreements and equity arrangements
- Leases and commercial real estate
Laurie has been practicing law for over 25 years. She began her career as a judicial law clerk then worked in big firms in the Washington D.C. area, including Venable, a 600+ member firm, where she represented Fortune 500 companies as well as a number of small and mid-size businesses.
Laurie is well-versed in the issues and challenges faced by entrepreneurs, start-ups and small businesses. As a private sector business executive, she worked effectively with a broad spectrum of private, legislative branch and executive branch stakeholders, and was involved at a decision-making level on a number of state economic development programs. She spent eight years implementing and managing economic development initiatives in the state of Kentucky focused on early stage and growth stage technology companies. Most notably she founded Kentucky’s Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs in 2012.
Laurie graduated with Distinction from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University in Arlington, Virginia. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
